Several music industry observers were stunned and surprised over the statement made by the famous duo 54-year-old Kix Brooks and 56-year-old Ronnie Dunn, that the time for split has come.

Singer/guitarists Brooks and Dunne said in a statement,

Country music duo Brooks & Dunn, whose courage honky-tonk catapulted to the top of the charts for nearly two decades, said Monday that break after a farewell tour next year.

The singer and guitarist Kix Brooks, 54, and Ronnie Dunn, 56, said in a statement that “it is the right time” for the separation, which surprised industry watchers music.

“After 20 years of making music and riding this road together, we agreed as a duo it’s time to call it a day,” he said.

“This trip has been everything and more than I ever dreamed …. we owe it all to you, the fans. If you hear rumors, do not believe it is the right time.”

Dates have not yet been announced for the start of next year’s concerts, called The Last Rodeo Tour. It will be preceded next month for a record of success, “# 1 … and then some.”

Brooks & Dunn first hit the charts in 1991 and went on to become the biggest seller in the history of country music duo. It sold 22.3 million albums in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, which tracks retail sales.

It topped the U.S. singles charts country 20 times with songs like “Brand New Man” the song from her debut album in 1991, and “Only in America,” a 2001 patriotic hymn used by both parties during election campaigns. Brooks & Dunn out at various events of the Republicans, but only outwardly Dunn was a supporter of the party.
